McVitie's Penguin Relay - Update 30 March - Easter Day.More reports

It's been busy here what with the ups and downs of the weather in relation to orchestrating the Penguin Alpha/Bravo changeover. Now successfully completed.

Overcast weather and some difficulty with radio communications has delayed the changeover between Alpha and Bravo. It also involved an overnight stopover for Bravo in Eureka before flying onto the ice to meet Eureka at 84deg01minN 74deg10minW. Penguin Alpha arrived safely aboard the twin otter back in Resolute today at 19.00 local time just in time to celebrate their success and Easter in fine style.

We are particularly proud that Penguin Alpha succeeded in reaching their goal of crossing the 84th parallel, thereby conquering nearly sixty miles of pressure ridges in sixteen days - well done. It is the best possible start. we now wish Penguin Bravo the best possible luck.

We are beginning to receive messages of goodwill from around the world which are very gratefully received by all here in Resolute and particularly by the brave women out on the ice. Keep them coming. We will relate some of the messages in due course.
