Catherine has always been interested in the extreme conditions of places in the high latitudes and she sees the expedition as an amazing opportunity to fulfil a long-held dream. For her the value of the expedition is the exceptionally hard work that will be required of each member of the team. Not for her the centrally- heated luxury of an Antarctic cruise ship! A free-lance outdoor instructor based in Otley in Yorkshire, she enjoys being part of a team. However, she is also very aware of the many people who were so disappointed not to be selected and is anxious to prove worthy of her place and not to let them or her other team- members down.
