Lynne heard about the Relay on the radio as she sat in a traffic jam on the M6. Pen was talking about the Arctic and she thought how much she would like to go there, never believing that at the end of the interview he would say that the opportunity could be hers for the taking. She believes that everyone should do as much as possible in their lives and she is also attracted to the expedition by the total fitness which will be required. She lived in Australia with her husband for five years and they are now back in Cheshire with their two small children where she works as a quantity surveyor.
