Their home is known as a den and is usually situated by a stream or hill, as it is easy for the foxes to dig here.
Baby foxes are called whelps or pups. The pups are born in the spring time and the parents work together to look after them.
Arctic foxes are carnivores and they eat seal pups and lemmings. To feed about ten pups the parents must kill about twenty five to thirty lemmings a day, and by the time the pups are ready to leave the den the adult foxes must feed them over one hundred lemmings a day.
When food is scarce they have even been known to go after larger prey such as Polar bears and wolves.
